After reading some of the reviews we were a bit hesitant to stay here. However, after spending 4 days here we were very pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The pool and rooftop terrace were beautiful. The location was perfect for exploring the northern end the lake with easy access to the ferry. The rooms were simple and a little dated, but the lake view was well worth it. Only feedback would be the inconsistency of the hours of service for lunch on the rooftop. We were told at check in lunch was served daily 2:00- 6:00pm however both days we went to eat during those times, they were not serving lunch. Otherwise, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend!
This was a great hotel in a perfect location if you plan to hop on ferries and travel around Lake Como. Like every other review here, yes the hotel has an older classic look. However it is a beautiful looking hotel and the room we stayed in was clean and pretty spacious. The staff is helpful and the concierge at the front is amazing! I highly recommend going to the concierge for any questions about reservations and recommendations because she was able to set all of them up for us (I.e. dinner, boat trips, ferry times etc). The pool and bar area is wonderful with beautiful views of the lake. If you have breakfast included just a heads up it is a very basic buffet style. Overall a wonderful stay and I would return/recommend to anyone.
The location is absolutely spectacular. We spent 4 days here and were upgraded to a nicer room as we were celebrating our anniversary. The ferry stop is 5 min walk and takes you anywhere you’d want to go around. This hotel has old school charm and the breakfast room overlooking the stunning lake is a the best example of that. Nothing was too much, Cadennabia is indeed a quiet jewel on lake como and this hotel is a the perfect place to enjoy it in its truest sense. I would definitely stay here again.
The rooms are a little simplistic but the view 100% makes up for that! We spent our time soaking up the sun on the balcony and admiring the beautiful lake. The staff were very friendly, recommended nice restaurants and helped us book a taxi to our next location. The pistachio and chocolate croissants mixed with the view of the lake at breakfast was unforgettable!!
A very old hotel, but i picked this knowing and decided to take a chance. I enjoyed a comfortable stay, great location at centre of the lake with close access to ferry ports and almost next door to Villa Carlotta. The hotel lobby is very grand. My room gave me a nice view of the lake . The hotel has a beautiful pool area and terrace where you can enjoy some drinks while overlooking the lake. Several restaurants within walking distance for dinner and staff A+ However it does need to be heavily renovated. I spoke to the manager and they said renovations will probably start next year. The breakfast selection could have been better. Very nice overall experience
We stay a few nights in the Grand Hotel Cadenabbia on Lake Como years ago, it was spectacular! Although we did not eat at the hotel, so I cannot comment on the restaurant but the room was spacious and clean. The Hotel had a story of Old World Charm about it. A place to film a Movie. It is the perfect location on the Lake with the most amazing views of Lake Como and the Swiss Alps. Not far from the hotel we hired a private boat, it was a touristy kind of thing to do, as we cruised Lake Como sightseeing , our guide was informative and it was a beautiful day to be on the water. We also took a larger boat to surrounding areas, there was so much History. You could walk everywhere. I am not saying anything negative about our stay but When you have a perfect location, everything else about the Hotel should be top notch. I’m not saying it wasn’t, but one would expect the best , in everything, from Staff Uniforms, cleanliness, fresh flowers , the mattress, pillows, sheets, towels, the extra special shampoos available in the boutique, the memorable 5 star restaurants, the chefs, servers and kitchen staff, Bar and pool side. Not to ignore special items available to purchase in the Boutiques. For me, my few days felt like an amazing destination. A special spot to stay a while longer, a place an artist could absorb the scenery or write a book. It was The Perfect Place!
I'm putting this review on because there are so many mixed reviews. Overall its a decent hotel. Needs some improvements yes, but overall the breakfast was really good, service was amazing, and location isn't too far from the ferries. If you are looking for a clean hotel, great views, and nice staff this is the place to stay
